We at Australian Bus Manufacturing (ABM) like to go back and look at some of our achievements from over the years, as we strongly believe by acknowledging the past, we enhance our confidence in the future.

ABM started out as the Cycle Components Manufacturing Company (CCMC) in 1935, and after becoming Custom Coaches, began a long and distinguished relationship with the Australian bus industry. Cutting its teeth as a bicycle manufacturer and retailer in the Sydney suburb of Guildford, NSW, CCMC’s modest beginnings didn’t stop us from becoming one of the largest and most reputable bus body suppliers to the Australian bus industry, and consequently the winner of this 2011 BusNSW Award for Supplier of the Year.

With bus body manufacturing plants in three different Australian states, our sales and support service became a truly nationwide venture. ABM and Custom Coaches have always emphasised the importance of research and development, investing in modern design, technologies, and engineering concepts, which are then integrated into both our products and manufacturing plants. This focus is more pertinent now than ever before with our current emphasis on developing fully electric commercial vehicles.

Due to our unique perspective of always looking towards the future, ABM buses have consistently received accolades and high praise from industry operators. Just one example of this was in 2010 when the ABM CB80 bus was shortlisted for the Australian Design Awards – not a common feat for a commercial bus body manufacturer! With industry-leading product design, safety standards, and seating capacity, ABM’s innovative use of technologies and materials has continually exemplified its ongoing investment in both the Australian bus industry, as well as Australian transport in general.

With breakthrough commercial vehicles like its new generation low-floor city bus – the CB80, and the SB50 school bus, ABM is confident industry awards will continue to flow in the near future!
